Bambu Lab A1 or A1 mini? Build volume, size and limits compared

Compare A1 and A1 mini build volume, machine size, maximum bed temperature and replacement part selection using documented manufacturer specifications.

Assessed from documentation · Content verified on October 4, 2026

Choose according to your models

A1 mini has a nominal 180 × 180 × 180 mm build volume; A1 reaches 256 × 256 × 256 mm. If your models fit the mini’s volume, the smaller format may be sufficient. If they exceed 180 mm along one axis, check their orientation in the slicer or consider A1, or splitting the model into parts. Brims and supports take up bed space.

Space on your desk

Machine dimensions in the catalog are 347 × 315 × 365 mm for A1 mini and 465 × 410 × 430 mm for A1, in width, depth, height order. These are machine dimensions, not the full operating space: allow for bed movement, spool, cables and accessories in the arrangement specified by the manual.

Temperature and material limits

A1 mini’s bed reaches 80 °C and A1’s reaches 100 °C; both list 300 °C as the maximum hotend temperature. Maximum temperatures are hardware limits, not recommended settings for every material. Both are open machines: a hot hotend alone does not establish suitability for materials needing a controlled chamber. Start with the official profile and guidance for your filament.

Combo bundles and replacement parts

Combo identifies an accessory bundle, not a different build volume. Select the replacement plate size for the exact machine. A similar listing name or photograph does not establish compatibility; check the part number and variant.

Before deciding

This comparison reuses the documented specifications in the printer pages, with sources consulted on 4 October 2026. It includes no prices or results from our own hands-on tests.

  1. Open your usual models in the slicer and check space including supports and brims.
  2. Measure available space including bed movement and accessories.
  3. Compare complete specifications on both printer pages and check the revision in the manual.
